If you know anything about me you know that I love gin. It's delicious and it kind of goes with anything sweet, sour, or salty. I had bought myself a bottle of Hendrick's for Christmas a couple years ago and it was still hanging around in my fridge. I had a sort of productive day which included a doctor's appointment, finalizing some details regarding an art show I'm organizing and hitting up 401 Richmond to check out a few shows (more on that later). I got home hungry and ready to cook some quinoa which was pretty uneventful but when I decided to segment a pink grapefruit my afternoon started to look up. I decided to drain the Hendrick's and throw my grapefruit juice and segments into the same glass with some ice cubes and top it all off with some blood orange sugar. I never drink at home when I'm alone but this Tuesday afternoon cocktail is well deserved (please keep in mind that my Tuesday is equivalent to a normal person's Sunday due to my work schedule). The only thing detracting from my productive and positive afternoon is the raging fight taking place between the people who live above me, lots of yelling and slamming things up there but I've got some Gram Parsons playing so it's drowning it all out.
As I mentioned I went to 401 Richmond today to check out the Harun Farocki show at Prefix Gallery but it turns out they aren't open on Tuesdays, boo. I did get to see Aleesa Cohene's video piece "Something Better" at YYZ. I will admit that I usually have very little patience for video work but this is one that you truly must see. It's part of the 22nd Images Festival and you owe it to yourself to see it! You can check out some of her other work here: www.aleesacohene.com
That's kind of it for now, I have a ton of stuff to read for research, organize a one night art show, update my resume, look for some internships and possible artist residences, create a facebook group, call Brooke, book hotels in Spain, Shannon and Dublin....I'm going to have an anxiety attack! Good thing I have a bottle of Bombay Sapphire and 3 more grapefruits! (I'm joking, I promise!)

that looks like the best drink in the world!
you have found it! let's drink those next time.
(imagine the dude at The Hop when we ask for segmented grapefruit and blood orange sugar in our gin. he'd throw drinks on all of us, not just rachel.)
